Randy’s Voyages

Hi, my name is Randy Crenwelge. I'm on a voyage through Cyberspace. I'm curious who are you? Where are you? Why me? Is there meaning beyond the horizon? Do we share a common destiny? A common interest? A challenge? A smile? A friendship? Do you understand the meaning of this, or do I fade like a mist? Tell me more from a distant shore or move on to more appealing waters. I dare you to make my day pleasant. If not, maybe this mode of communication was discovered to keep the peace. Or, maybe I can add value to your existence. You can Email me at randytall@aol.com.

WHO AM I?

Kings Point Marine Engineer

As a marine engineer, I have designed, operated, and maintained navy ships, merchant ships, barges, offshore oil rigs, tug boats, fishing boats, and yachts. I graduated from the U. S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY at Kings Point, New York, Long Island. I sailed on a merchant ship that was 3 football fields in length and used steam as its means of propulsion. At age 18, I had 30,000 horsepower in my hands controlling the turbine engines of the SS Stonewall Jackson while traveling up the Mississippi River to New Orleans. In the MERCHANT MARINE, I traveled aboard ship all around the world including to countries in Central and South America, the Mediterranean, South and East Africa, the Red Sea, the Middle East, and Asia. I have seen the Pyramids, Mt Kilimanjaro, South Africa under Apartheid, and many ports around the world. I saw 1000s of people in Cairo living in cardboard box houses. I have had an exciting career as a Patent Examiner, research engineer, science teacher, Navy ship design engineer, maintenance manager for our military cargo fleet, mechanical and electrical engineer, and naval architect. I wrote a major regulation that came about due to the Exxon Valdez grounding. I determined the cost impact of the zebra mussel and other invasive species that disrupt the food change and cause harm to industries and fisheries of the United States. My RESUME is available.

Ham Radio Operator WB5LPN

Ham Radio is a fun and exciting hobby. I am licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to communicate all across the world using a powerful radio and amplifier that puts out 1500 watts of power. I talk to other ham radio operators using voice, Morse code, teletype, worldwide email and many digital modes. I have the capability to send and receive television pictures around the world, and I listen to and can talk with the astronauts live aboard the International space station. I have spoken to people all around the world. I have been heard in remote Mongolia. While driving in my car, I spoke to the pilot of a cargo jet above Canada, a ship near Nova Scotia, Kuwait and Alaska. For more information, see my HAM RADIO page.
